Description
Please note – It is a prerequisite for carer representatives to also be a member of the PaRK Mental Health Consumer and Carer Guidance Group, as this group plays a key role in ensuring that carers receive the necessary support in their representative capacity.
The purpose of the Education and Research Committee is to:
- Oversee the Mental Health Directorate training program for non-medical clinical Staff
- To assist Program Managers establish processes for staff completion of mandatory training
- To work with Sub-Committee members to identify and implement clinical education opportunities
- In conjunction with the Mental Health Information Coordinator to coordinate and implement HoNOS and Phase of Care (POC) training
- To assist Program Managers record all staff non-mandatory training Participation
- To oversee new staff orientation, including the continuous review of Mental Health staff orientation resources
- To lead nurse new graduate program implementation
- To be a resource for all professional leads, including for student placements
- To evaluate all training (NSQHSS 1.19)
- In conjunction with the Mental Health Clinical Governance Officer, provide staff education related to:
− National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards(NSQHSS)
− Mental Health Act (MHA)
− Statewide Standardised Clinical Documentation (SSCD)
− Office of the Chief Psychiatrist (OCP) Standards
− National Mental Health Standards
- To include consumers and carers in workforce training as appropriate
- To ensure ATSI cultural training is included in staff education planning
Carer Experience Required
- Current carer of a family member with a mental illness
- Living in the local (Peel, Rockingham, Kwinana) area
- Leadership competencies
