Carer Representation & Participation
Carers WA’s Carer Participation & Representation Program gives voice to the carer perspective.
The Carer Participation and Representation Program assists carers to participate on committees and advisory groups involved in health and mental health service policy development, planning and evaluation.
Carer representatives are nominated for committee positions based on their interest and experience in relation to the work of the committee.
Carers WA conducts two carer representation programs:
Carer Representation in WA Health Services: This program is funded by the Western Australian Health Department and recruits, places and supports carer representatives sitting on committees and advisory groups convened by the WA Health Department or state funded hospitals and health services.
Mental Health Carer Representation Program: This program is funded by the Mental Health Commission and recruits, places and supports carer representatives sitting on committees and advisory groups convened by state funded mental health services.
Both programs assist family and mental health carers to have a stronger voice and contribute to the planning, development and delivery of health services for the benefit of carers throughout Western Australia.
