Social Support Events
Everyone deserves a break from time to time.
Regular breaks give carers time to re-energise and enjoy other activities and relationships in their life. Regular breaks help carers to keep providing the best care they can. They also give the person being cared for the opportunity to have a break too.
Carers WA offers a range of social activities including:
Linking Together
Linking Together uses local venues to support social interaction and friendship for carers. In providing regular, planned, carer focused and flexible outings at low or no cost, Linking Together seeks to allow carers the choice of attending outings and activities that are suitable for them.
Once carers feel comfortable and have attended a few Linking Together outings, they are encouraged to develop their own social networking groups with support and assistance from Carers WA.
To find out more visit our calendar of events or call 1300 CARERS (1300 227 377).
Pamper Sessions
Our indulgent Pamper Sessions involve one hour of relaxation with a foot massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and Reiki. Light refreshments are provided.
These sessions operate using a lottery system in which carers are randomly selected each month. For your chance to be selected for a sumptuous Pamper Session, please register your interest by calling 1300 CARERS (1300 227 377).
Yoga & Meditation Sessions
Experience the calm and relaxation of our yoga and meditation sessions kindly provided each month by the Greenwood Yoga Centre, Yoga Om and Prana Yoga. Through a variety of relaxation techniques, the fully qualified yoga instructors help to ease the strains of your everyday living, revitalise your tired body and help to quiet your busy mind.
To find a yoga class in your area please call 1300 CARERS (1300 227 377).
Movie Events
Carers WA movie events are held approximately four times per year at various locations around the metropolitan area.
These popular events offer carers the opportunity to take a break from their daily routine and caring role by relaxing with a guest and enjoying a new release film. You are also given the opportunity to talk with Carers WA staff.

Short Break funding
Short Break funding is available for carers groups who wish to take a break away together. There are two funding rounds for Short Breaks each year (May & November).
Groups need to consist of 4 - 10 carers and preferences for funding are given to groups of new carers and to groups who have not previously received funding. Carers do not need to belong to a formal group to apply; they could form an informal group with other carers whom they would like to a take a Short Break with.
Please call the Social Support Coordinator on 1300 CARERS (1300 227 377) for more information.
The next round of funding, Round 26, opens on Friday the 1st of November and applications will be due by Friday the 8th of November 2013. The panel will then meet to assess the applications on Thursday the 14th of November.
