Reconciliation Action Plan
The Carers WA Reconciliation Action Plan 2016 – 2017 (RAP) has adopted the Carers Australia’s vision for reconciliation, which celebrates diversity, upholds equality and recognises and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians. This vision is fundamental to our commitment to building a better Australia in which carers can live, work, socialise and care.
Carers WA acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander carers often have unique and specific needs. We understand and recognise that it is essential that these needs be met so that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander carers may have the same health and wellbeing outcomes and life opportunities as other Australians.
The Carers WA Reflect RAP was endorsed by Reconciliation Australia in November 2016.
Carers WA embrace working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and services. We are working towards strengthening our partnerships with a range of organisations including:
Carers WA acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to elders both past and present.
