Carers WA has been supporting WA family and friend carers for the last 25 years through advocacy, support and offering a range of services. This June, Carers WA celebrates 25 years since the establishment as a recognised, incorporated association and becoming the peak body representing the needs and interests of carers in Western Australia.
The milestone recognises the achievements and increase in awareness of carers in the community, such as the development of the Carers Recognition Act, which was the first of its kind in Australia, the young carer program focusing on the needs of young carers in the community and the introduction of counselling, social support groups, respite and a range of other supports and services.
As part of the celebrations which run from June 2021, Carers WA are encouraging the WA community to reach out to those who are in a caring role to check in and see if they need support too.
WA carers are encouraged to reach out to Carers WA to see what supports and services they can access. For more information, please visit www.carerswa.asn.au or call 1300 227 377.
