Wear It Purple day at Carers WA!

Carers WA celebrated Wear It Purple Day on Friday, 28th August, a movement that has the potential to save thousands of lives through supporting LGBTI+ inclusion, allyship and queer awareness.

Wear it Purple was founded in 2010 in response to young people taking their own lives as a result of bullying and harassment from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity.

Carers WA embraces diversity in all its forms, for a more inclusive organisation and community. We are committed to understanding and celebrating all experiences that shape our lives and aim to ensure that everyone who engages with Carers WA  feels welcome and included.

“Wear It Purple Day” was celebrated at Carers WA with a tie-dyeing activity table where staff created their own tie-dye shirt and a staff bake-off with homemade desserts.

Through the activities, Carers WA raised just over $200 with all proceeds donated to Wear It Purple to support LGBTI+ inclusion and fostering a supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environment for LGBTI+ young people across Australia.
