Eating Disorder Steering Committee
Description
The primary role of this committee is to:
- Provide advice to the EDMH/Chief Executive on Eating Disorder strategic service requirements and issues.
- Ensure consumers with eating disorders and carers receive the best possible patient centered care, by supporting standards of excellence and accountability across WACHS.
- Provide advice on eating disorder issues and identify current and emerging trends, including innovations in practice, cultural considerations, to inform service delivery and reform.
- Oversee and monitor eating disorder projects, including risks, across the range of WACHS Health service functions.
- Support communication teamwork and collaboration within and external to WACHS Mental Health.
Carer Representative experience required:
- Living in a WA Country Health Service region.
- Experience as a carer or family member in accessing/receiving an eating disorder service in WA in the last 5 years.
- Be capable of reflecting the viewpoints and concerns of carers.
- Good communications skills, including listening and confidence in speaking in a committee setting.
- Experience in participating in committees or working committees.
- Ability to see beyond one’s own personal experience to reflect carer viewpoints and provide the collective carer perspective.
- Ability to see beyond his/her own personal experience.
- Respect diversity and differing opinions.
- Have an interest/passion for improving the health care experience.
- Good connections and networks within a particular community or carer committee.
