Young Carer Career Planning & Support

Thinking about your future, study or employment?

Our dedicated Young Carer team offers a one-stop-shop for all your career planning, job searching and training information needs. Our Career Planning & Employment Support Officer is a qualified Career Advisor and can help you to identify your passions and to build a plan to achieve your career goals. Whether you are looking to tailor your resume for now or build a plan for the future we are here to help.

The Young Carer team at Carers WA can offer free career planning and employment support services:

  • Career planning
  • Resume development
  • Job search and application assistance
  • Skills identification
  • Interview skills training
  • Training and education information

Did you know that as a school aged young carer, you can apply to have your caring duties formally recognised as a Community Service contribution under Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement (WASSA)?

Up to 999 hours can be uploaded to your Student Registration and Demographic file (SRGDG) and added to your WASSA. More information is available in the Community Service Guidelines or by calling the School Curriculum Standards Authority on (08) 9273 6751.

You can also talk to the student services team at your school or register with us as a young carer if you would like us to talk to your school on your behalf.
