If providing unpaid care for a family member or friend has affected your career or your ability to work you’re not alone. Free support is available.
The Be Job Ready Course is the first of its kind in Australia and for more than 5 years has been assisting carers to enter or re-enter employment within the Perth Metropolitan area.
This course will provide you with realistic information and practical skills which can be utilised to secure and maintain employment.
Additional benefits of the program often include an improved sense of self-worth and self-confidence, the opportunity to interact with other carers in a supportive group setting and the re-establishment of a routine similar to that of the workforce. The program runs over 10 sessions (2 hours per session) with key job-related skills and techniques covered during the first ten sessions and the opportunity to job seek with other carers during the final two sessions.
To apply for this program:
Complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) Form.
Carers WA will contact you to provide an overview and will advise if the program will meet your requirements. If not, referrals to other programs and services can be provided.
A meeting will be scheduled to assess your needs in relation to gaining employment and will involve creating a goal plan to assist with balancing caring role commitments in your transition to work.
Carers WA will offer a placement on the free course to provide you with the skills to job seek and apply for work. Please note: places are limited and will be prioritised based on needs.
