Description

The CAMHS Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) is a welcoming and inclusive group of young people, parents and carers who have lived experience with CAMHS and are passionate about improving our services. The group formalises a partnership between CAMHS and the consumers who use the services.

 

We look at issues prioritised by CAMHS as well as those that are consumer driven. The main duties are to:

  • Provide advice to CAMHS from a consumer perspective.
  • Give feedback on the information we provide to the public.
  • Provide thoughts on experiences of other consumers (e.g. compliments and complaints).
  • Provide thoughts on how we deliver our services.

 

CAMHS also has consumer and carer members on the:

  • Policy and Procedures Steering Group
  • Medication Safety Committee
  • Learning and Development Steering Group

 

Carer Representative’s experience required:

We are looking for people who:

  • Want to make a difference to mental health services for children and young people in WA.
  • Have lived experience with our mental health services.
  • Have an ability to provide feedback on:
    • the information we provide to our consumers
    • the reports we use to monitor our activities
    • information we provide to staff about partnering with consumers
  • Have confidence to speak up and share thoughts, reactions and ideas.
  • Have an interest in supporting CAMHS to use consumer perspectives to guide service improvement.
  • Preferably have good networks with other young people, families or carers who have lived experience of Mental Health Services

 

We encourage people from the following backgrounds to apply including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with a disability.

 

Please Note: Only carers/consumers who have previously accessed CAHS services (in the last five years), are currently accessing CAHS services, or are eligible to access CAHS services in the future — including parents/carers of a consumer — are eligible to apply for this committee.
