Description

Your lived or living experience matters. It can directly shape how mental health care is delivered and improve outcomes for consumers and carers across the South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS). SMHS are focusing on an important issue of suicide prevention and are inviting Expressions of Interests from community members who are or have been carers for someone with mental health challenges.

We are seeking people living anywhere in the South Metropolitan area, including the Peel region, who want to contribute. SMHS Mental Health currently has locations from Peel, Rockingham and Kwinana to Cockburn, Fremantle, and Murdoch.

Involvement

  •  Carer representative to get involved in the Suicide Prevention Committee (SPC)
  • The SPC meeting with run monthly for 1 hour via MS TEAMS

Your Experience Matters

By getting involved, you’ll help:

  • Prove perspectives that only a carers’ lived or living experience can provide
  • Co-design better, safer, and more responsive mental health care
  • Influence decisions that directly impact consumers and carers
  • Help guide current and future service development across SMHS Mental Health

We’re looking for

We welcome adults (25+) with:

  • experience as a carer or family member supporting someone with mental health conditions
  • interest in contributing to service and care improvement

We strongly encourage participation from:

  • Aboriginal people
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
  • People living with disability

Your insights, experiences, and cultural perspectives strengthen our mental health system.
