Consumer Representative Role Description

To provide feedback on consumer information provided by the SWPS for self-administration of a VAD substance.The SWPS aims to improve information sharing and education of consumers participating in services provided by the SWPS by consulting, involving and collaborating with

consumers, clinicians, and organisations.

 

Aim of the Patient Information Booklet Working Group:

Create consumer-friendly materials that promote a clear understanding of information regarding the self-administration of a VAD substance(s).

 

Carer Representative’s experience required

We are looking for consumers and carers who meet all the following criteria:

  • Experience as a consumer, carer, or family member accessing healthcare in Western Australia.
  • Are agreeable to participate in discussions on end-of-life care and associated experiences.
  • Be capable of reflecting the viewpoints and concerns of consumers and carers.
  • Good communications skills, including listening and confidence in sharing their experiences, thoughts and feelings.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to find solutions.
  • Ability to see beyond their own personal experience.
  • Respect diversity and differing opinions.
  • Have an interest/passion for improving the healthcare experience.

 

If selected, the consumer representative may be asked to participate in the following ways:

  • Participate in meetings and workshops with the SWPS to review patient facing materials.
  • Review documents such as policy, procedure, or guidelines from a consumer perspective as deemed appropriate by the SWPS.
  • Provide feedback (written or verbal) to the SWPS on consumer facing materials.

 

CLOSING DATE: Applications must be submitted by 30th April 2026

Location of Meetings

TBC. There will be some instances where meeting face-to-face may be the only option provided.

Frequency

A once-off meeting will be conducted via teleconference via MS Teams or face-to- face, or as deemed necessary to complete the project. Any further meetings will be advised via phone call and followed up in writing.
