The Lifelong Learning College
The Lifelong Learning College (LLC) is a new program offered by Carers WA, which commenced in October 2021. This program has been designed to build capacity for people with disability and their unpaid family carer/s. The program has been created to encourage education, building informal networks, and creating relationships in an inclusive community-based setting.
The program combines Community Wise, a 10-week skill building program which supports people with disability to gain skills of independence, build social skills and make friends.
The In-Person Peer Support (IPPS) program provides an opportunity for carers to share their experience of being an unpaid carer, learn from others and develop a supportive network. In-person support groups can provide a sense of empowerment, understanding and reduce feelings of social isolation.
The next Lifelong Learning College program, Community Wise commences in June 2022. It runs for approximately 4 hrs per week. For more details, please contact LLC@carerswa.asn.au or call 1300 227 377.
