Professionals/Service Providers

Research shows that if family or friend carer is well prepared for their caring role, we can reduce carer stress and burnout and reduce rates of re-admission of the person they care for.

The Prepare to Care program aims to provide hospital staff with resources to provide carers with more information, a better understanding of the requirements of care and linking of the carer to relevant services to contact, including Carers WA.

The aim of the program is to:

  • Promote the identification, engagement, inclusion and support of carers within the health system.
  • Provide education to hospital staff to identify and support carers within daily practice
  • Provide education to hospital staff on the Carers Recognition Act 2004, the Prepare to Care hospital program, and Carers WA services.
  • Assist hospitals to comply with the Carers Recognition Act 2004 and NSQHS standards
  • Provide carer resources to the hospital

If you would like to book an education session for your staff or require more information about the Prepare to Care program please contact the hospital team.  To contact the Hospital team please email info@carerswa.asn.au.
