Building on the success of previous years, the 2023 Young Carer Art Awards invites young people aged 8-25yrs who are caring for a sibling, parent or loved one with disability, physical or mental health challenges to submit an artwork that reflects this year’s theme:
‘Being a young carer is like being a superhero’
Entries may include but are not limited to; digital art, illustration, photography, drawing, painting, multimedia (video) and collage.
There are plenty of awesome prizes to be won including one of three Wacom One 13.3” Creative Pen Display tablets.
Applications from regional WA are strongly encouraged to apply as there is some travel assistance available for winning entries.
The competition is proudly supported by Lotterywest and the Department of Communities and aims to increase the awareness of young carers in the community as well as to create opportunities for young carers to engage with creative mediums, building their skills, confidence and capacity in their caring role.
Applications close midnight Sunday, 10th September 2023.
➜ Entries may include but are not limited to: digital art, illustration, photography, drawing, painting, multi media (video) and collage.
➜ All artwork must be submitted digitally (or with the assistance of Carers WA if required).
➜ Only pdf, png, jpeg and mp4 file formats will be accepted. If you are submitting a painting or drawing you may take a photo of the artwork for your submission.
➜ File size must not exceed 10MBs.
➜ There is no limitation regarding the software used to create the artworks.
➜ Each participant must only submit one piece of artwork to the competition.
➜ All entries must reflect the competition theme “Being a young carer is like being a superhero”.
The competition is open to all young carers (aged 8-25) who live in WA. All entries will be categorised by age.
