Carers WA is pleased to congratulate the Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA (DFES) on achieving Level 1 Activate accreditation.
This milestone reflects a strong and genuine commitment to recognising and supporting carers across the organisation. DFES demonstrates clear alignment with the Carer Recognition Act, embedding this commitment into everyday practice and promoting it through its intranet. This ensures staff are aware of carers’ rights and can easily access relevant information and support.
The effective use of the intranet across a large, multi-site workforce is a particular strength, enabling consistent visibility of resources and reinforcing an inclusive, informed culture. These strengths not only meet the requirements of Level 1 Activate accreditation, but also demonstrate a workplace culture that values wellbeing, inclusion, and genuine support for carers. It is particularly encouraging to see this commitment supported and recognised at all levels of the organisation.
Level 1 – ACTIVATE: Organisations become familiar with the minimum workplace standards and begin to develop carer friendly workplace policies and practices.
Level 2 – COMMIT: Organisations build on Level 1 – ‘Activate’ to provide clear actions and pathways to improve and embed carer friendly workplace practices.
Level 3 – EXCEL: Organisations focus on showcasing excellence and best practice of carer friendly workplace practices. At this level, carers are included and positioned as key stakeholders within the organisation.
Once again, congratulations to DFES on this achievement and for setting a strong foundation for continued growth in carer friendly practices.
We look forward to seeing how DFES continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting carers in the workplace.
