Landmarks across Western Australia will light up in blue during National Carers Week (11th – 17th October 2026) in recognition of the incredible contribution carers make every day.
The illuminations recognise and celebrate the thousands of Western Australians who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend with disability, mental health challenges, chronic or terminal illness, frailty due to age, or alcohol and other drug dependency.
This year’s National Carers Week theme, Care for a Carer: Making Carers Visible, highlights the important role carers play in our communities and encourages greater recognition, appreciation and support for those who care for others. The campaign aims to ensure carers are seen, valued and connected to the resources that support their own wellbeing.
While carers are at the heart of families and communities across WA, many remain unseen in their caring role. By illuminating landmarks in blue, communities across the state are helping shine a light on carers and acknowledge the significant difference they make every day.
From 11th – 17th October, Western Australians will be able to spot blue illuminations across Perth and regional communities, with 38 landmarks confirmed to participate in this year’s campaign.

- Parliamentary Fountains
- King Edward Memorial Hospital

Several Main Roads structures will also light up, including:
- Matagarup Bridge
- Joondalup Drive Bridge
- Mount Street Bridge
- Northbridge Tunnel
- Sky Ribbon
- Great Northern Highway Port Hedland Interchange Bridge
Fremantle Ports will also participate throughout the week.
